Lärandemål
Upon completion of the course the student should have the;
Kunskap och förståelse
- describe the basic examination methods within oral health
- explain and describe basic prevention and treatment methods within caries and periodontitis
- describe patient care in oral health.
Färdighet och förmåga
- independently plan and perform basic examination methods within oral health
- communicate with and inform patients, relatives about prevention and treatment methods within caries and periodontitis
- assess and evaluate treatment and advised interventions.
Värderingsförmåga och förhållningssätt
- reflect over the personal values significance related to oral health
- perform patient care from the professionals fundamental values and patients needs.
Innehåll
- hygiene aspects at dental clinics
- examination of teeth and various tissues of the mouth
- analyzing, assessing and recording the need of oral health effort
- prevention of oral diseases; caries and periodontitis
- oral hygiene methods
- evaluating the advised interventions
- scaling
Undervisningsformer
The course is presented in the form of seminars, group activities and clinical practice combined with reflections at a local dental laboratory and in a student clinic.
Undervisningen bedrivs på engelska.
Förkunskapskrav
The student must have passed the equivalent of 30 higher education credits in the area of Oral health at the home university in order to qualify for admission to this course.
Examination och betyg
Kursen bedöms med betygen A, B, C, D, E, FX eller F.
The assessment will be based on clinical examinations with seminars.
Examiner
A university lecturer serves as the course examiner.
