Lärandemål

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

Innehåll

Undervisningsformer

The course takes place at a workplace and includes supervision sessions online by course teachers.

A learning management system is used.

Students who have been admitted to and registered for a course have the right to receive instruction/supervision for the duration of the time period specified for the particular course instance to which they were accepted. After that, the right to receive instruction/supervision expires.

The teaching is conducted in English.

Förkunskapskrav

General entry requirements and passed courses of at least 150 credits out of which 90 credits in any of the subjects/main subjects Global Studies, International Relations, Human Geography, Media- and Communication Studies, Pedagogy, Human Resources, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Sociology or Political Science, or the equivalent, including an independent work (thesis) of at least 15 credits on Bachelor´s level, alternatively to be admitted at a master programme in Social Sciences of Sustainability at the School of Education and Communication at Jönköping University. English proficiency is required. Exemption is granted from the requirement in Swedish.

Examination och betyg

Kursen bedöms med betygen Underkänd eller Godkänd.

The examination is based on the intended learning outcomes.

The course is examined through two individual written assignments and a seminar. The individual written assignments and the seminar are graded with U/G (Fail/Pass).

The examination must allow for students to be assessed on an individual basis. Further information concerning assessment of specific intended learning outcomes and grading criteria is provided at the beginning of the course.

To receive the final grade of the course, the following assignments must be passed:
- two individual written assignments
- attendance at the seminar
- 17 weeks attendance at the workplace
- Internship Assessment signed by the organization
- regular contact with the supervisor at the university


Students are guaranteed a minimum of three attempts to pass an examination, including the regular attempt.

If a student has failed the same examination three times, the student can request that the next attempt be graded by a new examiner. The decision to accept or reject such a request is made by the associate dean of education. A student may not make a second attempt at any examination already passed in order to receive a higher grade.

In case a course is terminated or significantly altered, examination according to the earlier syllabus shall be offered on at least two occasions in the course of one year after the termination/alteration.

The examiner has the right to give an adapted examination or let the student carry out the examination in an alternative way provided that the intended learning outcomes can be secured and that there are exceptional reasons for this, including the student's right to targeted study support.

Kursvärdering

The instruction is followed up throughout the course. A course evaluation is conducted at the end of the course. A summary and comments are published in the learning management system. The evaluation constitutes a basis for future improvements to the course.

Övrigt

The course has no campus-based teaching.

The student is responsible for finding and making arrangements with an internship organization within the non-profit, public, or corporate sectors in Sweden or abroad. The internship must be approved by the course coordinator and signed by the organisation on May 15 at the latest.

The internship course covers 20 weeks in total. The internship period shall comprise at least 17 weeks at the workplace and 3 weeks writing of the individual written assignments and preparation for the seminar.

Kurslitteratur

Relevant literature is chosen based on the activities at the place of internship and the tasks for the internship in consultation with the supervisor and should comprise approximately 1000 pages. The student has the main responsibility in this process.
