On completion of the course, the student should:

- demonstrate extended knowledge of subject matter as well as teaching methods for teaching in the assigned grade level
- demonstrate extended knowledge of childrens development, learning, needs and qualifications relevant to the actual teaching and learning
- demonstrate extended knowledge and understanding the context in which the teaching takes place, such as national curriculum expectations specific to grade and subject taught

- display the capacity to plan and perform teaching activities based on the curriculum documents
- demonstrate extended communicative ability in listening, speaking and writing to support teaching and learning activities
- demonstrate extended evaluation and assessment skills and the ability to analyse pupils learning in relation to the demands of the curriculum

- have developed an extended understanding of and an ability to adopt a professional attitude based on knowledge of the varying needs of pupils and the democratic mission of the school
- have observed of and reflected on how cooperation between pupils, parents, and colleagues may work
- demonstrate extended capacity to reflect on actual practice in the school, own experiences and development, in the light of precious experiences from theoretical studies, and earlier practicums (including SLS I)
- demonstrate extended capacity to reflect on the fundamental values of the Swedish School, including the Human Rights and democratic values

The course is located at an assigned school, where the student shall follow and actively participate in school activities according to the Learning Outcomes.

General entry requirements and 60 credits from the first semester of Teacher Education or the equivalent. Completed School Located Studies I, 7.5 credits. English proficiency is required. Exemption is granted from the requirements in Swedish.

The grades A, B, C, D and E are all passing grades. For courses with more than one examination, students are given a final grade based on an overall assessment of all examinations included in the course. The final grade of the course is issued only when all course units have been passed.

The examination is based on a written assessment document by the assigned tutor at the school, on observations and discussions with the assigned mentor from the university, and on a specific written, individual essay.

Attendance is mandatory for the full period. This means that absence must be compensated with additional school days, at a time and place decided by the student and tutor in consultation with the university mentor. Absence is reported in the written assessment document by the tutor.

The examination must allow for students to be assessed on an individual basis. Students may not make a second attempt at any examination (or element of examination) already passed in order to receive a higher grade. Further information concerning assessment and grading criteria is provided in a study guide distributed at the beginning of the course.

Students are guaranteed a minimum of three examination occasions, including the regular occasion.

If a student has failed the same examination three times, the student is entitled to request that the next examination is assessed and graded by a new examiner if possible. The decision to accept or reject such a request is made by the vice dean of education.

In case the course is terminated or significantly altered, examination according to the present course syllabus shall be offered on at least two occasions in the course of one year after the termination/alteration.

At the end of the course, a course evaluation is performed and commented on by the course coordinator and, if possible, a student/students (course developer/s). The course evaluation, which is published on the relevant learning platform and submitted to the study administration, is to function as a basis for future improvements to the course.

The course SLS II is intended as a practicum period for incoming international teacher education students that has completed SLS I. This course is part of one full semester within teacher education and is not offered as a separate course. The course is offered subject to availability.

The students' placement for the SLS II course is based on the incoming students teacher education specification (ages and subjects). The university's SLS-administration is responsible for organizing the placement.
