After a successful course, the student shall:

- demonstrate comprehension of the difference between the experience of practical work and the theoretical knowledge acquired earlier in the program
- demonstrate comprehension of the fundamental conditions in the workplace, including the relationship between employers and employees.

- demonstrate the ability to professionally prepare for an internship position
- demonstrate the ability to identify and take contact with companies and organizations working with the digitalization of the built environment
- demonstrate skills to apply the knowledge acquired through their education in professional work
- demonstrate the ability to describe, analyze and document the practical work
- demonstrate the ability to orally explain and discuss information, problems, and solutions in dialogue with colleagues and supervisors in the workplace.

- demonstrate the ability, based on experience with clients, to reflect on their need for knowledge and skills in professional practice
- demonstrate an understanding of their future professional role and the responsibility for sustainability that comes with it
- demonstrate the ability to reflect on how the practical experiences are related to the theoretical knowledge in the respective specialization
- demonstrate the ability, in practical engineering work, to make assessments with regard to relevant social and ethical issues.

The course aims to provide students with the possibility for a professional approach in the exercise of their future profession.

The course includes the following elements:
- Joining and contributing knowledge to an ongoing project
- Witnessing and participates in an ongoing product development process
- Participating in professional practice relevant to the main subject area
- Planning and delivering professional development for the client’s staff
- Written and oral reflection upon the experience of professional practice, and its documentation

Students work individually at the assigned company and/or via digital platform; hands-on professional practice in the workplace; final report, written and oral, on campus.

An application stating the company where the internship is going to be conducted and the main tasks, assignments and deliveries must summitted to the course responsible and examiner for approval. The internship will be approved only if company, tasks, assignments, and deliveries are evaluated relevant for the program and the student’s educational and professional grow.

At least 30 credits in the Master's program should be approved.
