Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)
Upon completion of the course the student should have the ability to:
Knowledge and understanding
Module 1: Orthopaedics, 5 credits- describe common injuries and diseases related to the musculoskeletal system
- describe changes and consequences that follow from dysfunctions in the musculoskeletal system
- explain the consequences of different interventions for individuals who´s experiencing dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system.
Module 2: Neurology, 2.5 credits- describe common neurological injuries and diseases
- describe changes and consequences that follow from dysfunctions in the nervous system
- explain the consequences of different interventions for individuals who´s experiencing dysfunction in the nervous system.
Contents
The course content consists of pathology, aetiology, diagnostics, treatment, progression and consequenses related to:
- orthopaedic injuries and diseases
- neurological injuries and diseases
- internal medicine dysfunctions, mainly related to rheumatic arthritis, peripheral arterial disease and diabetes mellitus
- habilitation and rehabilitation aspects connected to treatment
Type of instruction
The course is implemented in the form of lectures and seminars.
The teaching is conducted in English.
Prerequisites
General entry requirements and completion the course Anatomy and Physiology, Basic Course, 7.5 credits (or the equivalent).
Examination and grades
The course is graded A, B, C, D, E, FX or F.
Examination of the course will be conducted by a written exam for each module, 1 and 2. Remaining examinations will be written individual examinations and group seminar.
A university lecturer serves as the course examiner.
