Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)
On completion of the course the students will be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
1. explain and discuss the applicability of Informatics theories and methodologies in an organisation, or equivalent
Skills and abilities
2. search for, generate, organise and deploy relevant data and information concerning Informatics issues associated with the organisation and environment in which the student is performing his or her internship
3. independently identify, formulate, investigate and analyse Informatics problems associated with the internship and perform tasks within given time frames, demonstrating self-organisation, initiative and time management
4. demonstrate skills needed to deal with practical-oriented issues from different theoretical fields within Informatics
Judgement and approach
5. assess and critically interpret relevant data and information concerning Informatics issues associated with the organisation and environment in which the student is performing his or her internship
Contents
Practical-oriented work under academic supervision. The internship is to be carried out at an organisation, or equivalent. The content of the work must be approved by the programme manager before the internship starts.
Type of instruction
Programme students in Informatics are given the possibility to take parts of a semester to do an internship at an organisation, or equivalent. The student has to look for such a position on his/her own initiative. The traineeship and the topic for report writing must be approved by the programme manager before the internship starts. The objective with the internship is to give the student experience in applying his/her theoretical skills in practical work concerning Informatics, thereby providing the student with a deeper knowledge and understanding of the problems which have been treated in various courses of the programme.
The teaching is conducted in English.
Prerequisites
Informatics 60 credits (or the equivalent).
Examination and grades
The course is graded Fail (U) or Pass (G).
The course is examined through a written internship report concerning Informatics. The report should be well structured and fulfil the scientific standards required by JIBS and in line with the learning outcomes of the course. It is to be noted that this internship report cannot replace the writing of a bachelor thesis but it can be used as a basis for such a thesis.

Course evaluation
At the outset of the course the course coordinator ensures that course evaluators are elected (or exist) among the students. The course evaluation is carried out continuously and at the end of the course. At the completion of the course the course evaluators and course coordinator discuss the course evaluation and possible improvements. The result is reported to the Associate Dean for Education, the Committee of Undergraduate Education and the Board of Directors of JIBS. The course coordinator shall at the outset of the following course report results and measures from the previous course evaluation.

The credits from this course can only be used as elective credits and cannot be included in the major.
