After completing the course, students
Knowledge and understanding
- have knowledge of methodology and basic methods in industrial design
- have knowledge of the basic visualization methods
- have knowledge of various techniques for modeling a product in CAD
- have knowledge of basic rhetoric and presentation techniques
- have knowledge of the morphology, shape problems
- have knowledge in creating physical models in various materials
Skills and abilities
- demonstrate skills, with guidance in building models in various materials
- demonstrate skills, with guidance, to create models in CAD
- demonstrate ability and skill, with supervision, to illustrate product suggestions.

Contents
The course includes both theoretical and practical elements with an emphasis on practical design work.
The course covers the following topics:
- Color Theory
- Morphology
- Model Technique
- Aesthetics
- Design Methodology
- Product Methodology
- Sketching
- CAD
- Rhetoric and Communication
Type of instruction
Some literature and some elements in Swedish can occur.
The teaching is conducted in English.
Prerequisites
Passed courses 180 credits in first cycle, at least 90 credits within the major subject Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering (with relevant courses in construction and design), and 15 credits Mathematics, or equivalent. Proof of English proficiency is required. Through set work test that show artistic skills and aptitude for the profession.
Examination and grades
The course is graded 5,4,3 or Fail.
