After completing the course, the student shall
Knowledge and understanding
- have knowledge of the fundamental conditions in the workplace, especially regarding the relationship between employers and employees

- demonstrate the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in practical engineering settings
- demonstrate the ability to describe, analyze and document the practical work
- demonstrate ability to orally explain and discuss information, problems and solutions in dialogue with colleagues and supervisors in the workplace
Judgement and approach
- demonstrate the ability to reflect on their need for knowledge and skill development based on the experience gained in practical work
- demonstrate the ability to reflect on how the practical experiences are related to the theoretical knowledge in the respective specialization
- demonstrate the ability in practical engineering work make assessments with regard to relevant social and ethical issues
Contents
In the the course, students apply the knowledge acquired from the earlier courses in the program in practical engineering work at a company, government or organization, thereby gaining insights that will be useful in subsequent courses. The course also includes an introduction on campus, analysis and documentation of selected areas during the work, and a reporting/presentation on campus.
The course includes the following elements:
- Introductory lectures that deal with the relationship between employers and employees
- The student follows and contributes the knowledge in the practical work with relevance to the field of technology
- The student analyzes and documents the ongoing work
- The student reports their analysis and practical experience
Type of instruction
The course is conducted primarily on a business, at an establishment in the public sector or other organizations The student works in cooperation with the employees and possibly other students. Introductory lectures and final presentation, written and oral, takes place on campus.
The teaching is conducted in English.
Prerequisites
General entry requirements and completed courses of at least 60 credits within the programme (or the equivalent).
Examination and grades
The course is graded Fail (U) or Pass (G).
The final grade (U/G) is given only when all examination moments/modules are passed.
