Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)

After a successful course, the student shall

Knowledge and understanding

- display basic knowledge of projects as work method including management and coordination processes
- show familiarity with central theories within the field of group dynamics
- show familiarity with the impact of leadership on group dynamics
- display knowledge of how group dynamics affect the group’s results and work climate
- show familiarity with how projects can be conducted within the programmes specific profession

Skills and abilities

- demonstrate the ability to apply methods and tools in the field of project methodology
- demonstrate the ability to analyse one’s own role within the group, and describe improvement possibilities related to the groups common goals

Judgement and approach

- demonstrate an understanding of the importance of different perspectives (gender, social sustainability, cultural) for problem formulation, analysis and solution proposals in project management, group dynamics and leadership.

Contents

The course includes two parts. One part about group dynamics and leadership and one part about project management and methods. The course includes basic project methodology with models and tools for the project manager. Some of the methods are specifically selected to fit the future professions of the programme students. The part about group dynamics and leadership includes theories and models for how the individual, the group and the leader's behaviour influences each other.

Lectures, assignments and seminars.

The teaching is conducted in English.

Prerequisites

General entry requirements and Mathematics 2a or 2b or 2c and English 6. Or: Mathematics B and English A (or the equivalent).

Examination and grades

The course is graded 5,4,3 or Fail.
