Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)

After a successful course, the student shall

Knowledge and understanding

- show familiarity with the communication between web clients and web servers
- demonstrate comprehension of the different aspects of web based system architecture

Skills and abilities

- demonstrate the ability to apply HTML5 standards in the construction of documents (DOM)
- demonstrate the ability to apply CSS3 in the design of a web site
- demonstrate the ability to apply precompiled CSS (SASS/LESS)
- demonstrate the ability to develop a finished web solution with the aid of CSS3 and HTML5 following a given specifications and a focus on sustainability
- demonstrate the ability to develop a web site according to principles and best practise of responsive web design

Judgement and approach

- demonstrate the ability to suggest a user interface that is user friendly and useable, and to motivate why

Contents

The course comprises contemporary and basic techniques to create modern web applications for desktop as well as mobile devices.
The course includes the following parts:
- HTML5
- CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) including animation and transitions
- Precompiled CSS (SASS/LESS)
- Dynamic clients for improved web site functions
- Project methods for web projects
- Responsive design theory and implementation methods
- Standards and templates for construction of forms and input

Type of instruction

Lectures, assignments and project work.

The teaching is conducted in English.

Prerequisites

General entry requirements and Mathematics 2a or 2b or 2c and English 6. Or: Mathematics B and English B (or the equivalent).

Examination and grades

The course is graded 5,4,3 or Fail.

Final grading of the course is made by averaging the various test.
The final grade will only be issued after satisfactory completion of all assessments.
